I originally saw these bulbs in the impulse buy section at the Micro Center checkout. I was skeptical, but after reading up on them online, I decided to go ahead and buy some to try. It worked far better than expected! Now of course the only drawback is that if you are really OCD about turning lights off, then they won't be doing you much good as air filters. I wish they could include some small rechargeable battery inside so they could continue to filter the air even when the lights are off.
The first set I got ended up in my bedroom, and they definitely helped to cut down on that "manly" smell. The next set I got went in the hallway where there's a cat's litterbox, and the third set went into a full bathroom on the 2nd floor. Everywhere I put them it has made a big difference.
Unfortunately one of the ways you can tell it's doing it's job is that you will see A LOT more dust all over everything. So be prepared to dust a lot more. But hey, that just means you're cleaning up crap that would of otherwise been in the air....

I bought these on sale for ~$20 at a hardware store. The light is comparable to a normal "bright white" CFL, and the bulb lights up instantly. I have a few bright white CFL bulbs that blow purple until they warm up - the Healthy CFL does not do that. I've only had the bulb for a day, so I don't have enough experience with it to write about the healthy effects of using it. I'll try to post a follow-up later.
