Customer Reviews

The person who left negative review probably doesn't own this heater or doesn't have enough experience with them. BTU with radiant heating is not the same as with forced air heating. I have two of these units and my various friends and family have at least 10 of them, and all report similar results. OK technically BTU's are BTU's, yes that's correct, but they feel radically different depending on the heating source. I have a couple of friends who have hydronic floor radiant heating in their houses and they are able to lower the temperature by 10 degrees, keep it in the low 60's, yet their houses feels incredibly warm and comfortable. It's warm in a pleasant way. The way forced air heating heats the air make people edgy during the winter. Every single person I know who owns radiant floor heating is ecstatic about its performance. Tell them about BTU's rating and they'll laugh at your ignorance.
It's like telling people that calories are calories, regardless if they get it from junk food or from fresh organic unprocessed. Yes technically calories are calories, but doesn't the source of those calories make tremendous difference on a person's health?
Let me give you another example, have you ever sat or laid down on a sunny day where the temperature was a bit on the cool side? I have suntanned once even at a 50 F temperature. As long as you are protected from the wind, the sun radiating energy warms your body and you feel very comfortable.
Yes, this heater has limitations, yes it's supplemental, you can't heat the whole house with one unit, and yes you need to be at least a bit in its pathway. Common sense should tell you that as well. But you can lower significantly your thermostat and save on gas and use this heater and feel very pleasant. The emphasis here is on pleasant and comfortable, exactly the way a good wood fireplace can make you feel, which forced air can't ever replicate even at 100,000 BTU's.
If you are somewhat realistic in your expectations, value the way how radiant heat makes you feel, you are going to thoroughly enjoy having this heater in your possession and I doubt many people will regret its purchase. To me personally it is one of the prized possessions, which I joyously take out of its box each winter for the last 4 years.

Effectiveness of ANY heater (electric, radiant, gas, nuclear) is measured by the the number of thermal units (BTU) it can produce in one hour. Period.
Maximum BTUs CZ heaters can produce is 1500W/0.293071=5120.
Now ask your heating company (or do a search on the web) a simple question: what is the largest area that can be heated with 5000 BTUs? You will be surprised.
"... WILL HEAT up to 1000 square feet" statement on SZ web site is soberly deceptive. You should read: "can be used as SUPPLEMENTAL heating source in areas up to 1000 sq. ft."
